effect of salinity and deficit irrigation on some ions uptake by rapeseed (brassica napus l.) under two planting methods
Authors
abstract
abstract- in this study, effect of deficit irrigation with different salinity levels and planting methods (in-furrow and on-ridge) on nutrient and toxic ions uptake by rapeseed was investigated in a two-year experiment. the experiment was conducted at research station, located in the college of agriculture, shiraz university, i.r. of iran. results indicated that an increase in water stress level decreased uptake of potassium (k), calcium (ca), sodium (na) and chloride (cl) by plant and with exception of k, those uptakes were enhanced by an increase in salinity of water and soil. furthermore, a decrease in applied water decreased the threshold of na in soil for seed yield reduction. deficit irrigation had a significant effect on slope of the fitted line between cl in plant (clp) and cl in soil. the clp threshold for seed yield reduction was significantly different for two planting methods in full irrigation regime so that seed yield reduction occurred in higher clp in in-furrow planting method. also, a decrease in applied water decreased clp threshold for seed yield reduction.

full textResponses of agronomic components of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) as influenced by deficit irrigation, water salinity and planting method
Shortage and salinity of irrigation water are two major constraints that influence rapeseed production in arid and semi-arid regions of central and southern Iran. In this study, effects of deficit irrigation with different salinity levels and planting methods (in-furrow and on-ridge) as strategies for coping with water and salinity stresses on yield and yield quality of rapeseed were invest...
full textGrowth and physiologic response of rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) to deficit irrigation, water salinity and planting method
Salinity and water stress reduces the ability of plant to take up water and decrease growth rate, photosynthesis rate (An) and stomatal conductance (gs) of plants. In this study, effects of deficit irrigation with different salinity levels and planting method (in-furrow and on-ridge) as strategies for coping with water and salinity stress on physiologic properties of rapeseed was investigat...
full textEffect of irrigation water salinity, manure application and planting method on soil ions variation and ions uptake by saffron (Crocus sativus L.)
The objective of the present study is to investigate the effects of irrigation water salinity, cow manure levels and different planting methods on ions variation in soil and their uptake bysaffron. A split-split plot arrangement was conducted in a randomized complete block designwith irrigation water salinity levels (0.45 (fresh water, S1), 1.0 (S2), 2.0 (S3) and 3.0 (S4) dS m-1)as the main plot...
full textEffect of Paclobutrazol on Canopy Temperature and Some Quantitative and Qualitative Characteristics of Two Rapeseed (Brassica napus L.) Cultivars in Different Irrigation Regimes
Plant growth regulators (PGRs) are used to prevent reduction in rapeseed grain yield under limited moisture conditions. A field experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of paclobutrazol (0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 mg L-1) on canopy surface temperature and some quantitative and qualitative characteristics of two rapeseed cultivars (Okapi and Natalie) under full irrigation and late season ...
full textEffect of Salinity on Growth, Ions Distribution, Accumulation and Chlorophyll Concentrations in Two Canola (Brassica napus L.) Cultivars
Salinity is a major environmental factor that influences rapeseed production in arid and semi-arid regions of central and southern Iran. In this study, effect of applied NaCl on shoot and root growth and distribution and accumulation of Na, Cl, K, Ca and Mg in the canola plant (Brassica napus L. cv: Hayola 308 and cv: PP 401) was investigated. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomi...
